well, "history" started when writing invented. time before referred "prehistory". other written records, there archaeology can used. includes carbon isotope dating, , stratigraphy (i hope spelled write), analyzing layers of debris. historians can analyze far necessary (although less in-depthly). other useful search terms on google might "sumerians", "neolithic revolution", "australophicus aforensis" (again, not sure of spelling), if want learn more.

as historians go farther , farther in time write human history must use different types of evidence , sources. how far in time can historians go , how evidence , sources change historians reach human history?
