Painting ceiling with textured behr paint?

in process of painting ceiling(plaster on lathe) behr brand interior sand finished texture paint. thick. can mix normal paint w/ behr texture paint make easier apply? areas have painted(about 1/2 of ceiling) different thicknesses , uneven. painted last night. how can "knock off" thicker areas , smooth bit? used large loop roller apply
