Which is the best Nikon lens to photograph flying aircrafts?

lot of aircraft photography...
use d300' 70-200 f2.8 vr lens.

90% of time use 70-200 camera in aperture or shutter priority depending on whether aircraft has propeller or not! use 1.4x teleconvertor if want in real tight, not often.

gives plenty enough reach capture entire aircraft in flight when it's crossing showline , still fill of frame. if use fixed 400 or 500 shots, can't run or forward aircraft frame correctly! @ least can't run fast! goes wide enough capture several aircraft in formation without changing lenses. lot of airshows in open dusty areas, don't want changing lenses lot.

aircraft doing maneuvers closer crowd anyway, being able photograph them 8 miles out while lazy turn show center useless anyway.

set camera shutter priority of 1/125th photographing prop aircraft, , 1/80th helicopters. set aperture priority f4 jets. these 2 settings use other if it's sporty little prop job high prop speed, might bump 250th or more. don't freeze propellers in air. doesn't right! need have panning technique still freeze aircraft not prop.

anyway! i'm rambling here! 70-200 f2.8. light enough hand hold , has fast autofocus. 1 of sharpest nikon lenses available imho...

mainly use @ airshows.
