Boat motor running poorly?

-

never run carb cleaner through 2-stroke motor.

strip lubricating oil right off cylinder walls. if wouldn't run motor without oil, don't run on carb cleaner.

been since got it? underpowered or overpropped.

maintenance has been done on engine recently?

have changed weight & balance of boat? (added battery in stern, example?)

if used run good, instead of "shotgun" approach, little bit of testing fix what's broke.

1. fuel line holding pressure?
2. water or debris in fuel?
3. fresh fuel?
4. compression test - compression on both cylinders (unless it's 3-cyl merc in case, on 3). lowest within 7% of highest.
5. spark test. not "spark plug" test. use inline tester, set gap 7/16" , strong blue spark on cylinders.

if of above checks out, rebuild carbs new kits.

if don't, ask next troubleshooting steps.

i have 25 tracker tiller on 16 ft skiff took out weekend , not getting boat plain 1 person in boat seems running @ low of rpms???
