Advertising for music students?

i'm trying private students, although new area. i've learned it's tough "newbie" on block. gradually getting name out through local music organizations , stuff, that's taking time. plan send out letters (w/flier included) area band/music directors , hand deliver ones schools in neighborhood. planning on contacting local music shoppes well.

of teach privately, other ideas on advertising , getting students? i'd appreciate other ideas may have.
