Whats the best wall properties for home theater.?

area have had least success with. 2 home theatres have built don't have ideal acoustics (not bad, better despite attempts address acoustic issues during design), , suggest more specialized forum authoritative advice (see 1st , 2nd links)

said, want mix of reflective , absorptive material otherwise room either bright (all drywall) or dull (all tile, drapes, foam panels, etc.).

1 guideline have read have 1/3 of wall surface form of absorptive material (e.g. acoustic tile, foam, drapes), , floor have carpet or rug @ least near front of room.

bass standing waves can problem, can tamed "bass traps" (see 3rd link 1 approach).

of course need setup equipment , "calibrate" audio speaker setup , room.

hope helps.

i'm putting home theater in basement should use wall beside acoustic panels. drywall, carpet, wood, etc???
