1996 Pontiac Grand Prix Issue?

have 1996 pontiac grand prix se, , vehicle unable keep running.

when turn key, car start, rpm's drop , vehicle turn off. when rpm's hit 0, there popping noise.

have checked air intake, battery, , belt , securely in place.

vehicle has been sitting 2 days in garage, , last time drove it, running fine.
