check local gallery selling work through them. take commission, that's how work. if not interested in work, ask why. accept criticism , work overcome perceived shortcomings in artwork. join local art network has website , lists local artists on it. make own website through free software application (like microsoft live) , make sure tags people finding work. low or no cost fairs/flea markets , other venues can reserve spot in sell people browsing. ask local businesses if can hang work @ no charge business card in corner. keep close list of art if this. check of little funky boutiques in area might interested in paintings sell. buy outright, others want commission. christmas time sell on board local christmas arts , crafts shows can rent booth.
luck , understand it's hard market right art...everyone buckling under cost of gas , groceries , can't eat painting.

i've been thinking advertising paintings not sure how go this, ideas gratefully recieved!!
