Why can't I change back my monitor resolution?

have restart (or reboot) computer resolution change because not monitors , graphics cards same.

i've had experienced when boot computer monitor off, windows not recognize monitor , not support highest resolution available on it.

up until 20 minutes ago, monitor set on 1440x900 pixels, changed resolution down, , when try put on 1440x900 monitor blacks out , says 'out of range'

please help, resolution giving me headache.
