quite honest, nj best bet. way cheaper out here in ny. live in bellevile nj. have own house. depending if want buy or rent, nj has many cheap places live in. harrison, hoboken, newark etc. however, if want stay in nyc, suggestion find place in east elmhurst (queens) jackson heights, woodside, sunnyside or location in queens. forget brooklyn , city. bronx.....eh, , washington heights might second best option if it. luck :)

my husband , live in pa , makes 80k+. has opportunity move near nyc nj seems extremely expensive. there affordable family friendly place live anywhere in commuting range nyc?
