Which is best way to produce prints for original painting, scanning or photography?

if pictures distorted after photographed them might have been using wrong lens or stood close. 300dpi standard photography , scanning.

can photograph artwork under shade tree not direct sun hitting artwork or on overcast day. give lighting without having buy photography lights.

which best way produce prints original painting, scanning (what resolution) or photography (with flash or not)? or there other proffesional way?
