Printer problems! help!?

have hp deskjet 2545 , have windows xp.
whats wrong.
bought deskjet , plugged in connected full computer, bubble pops tell me on , icon in control panel says online. @ first wouldnt print documents @ printed them @ once. printed printers test sheet , cartridge in fine, came out clear , readable. print on time prints me blank page.
did trouble shooting on hp , on windows printer. both ended me still having printer blank pages.
have no service pack learned , dont have lpt1 port either can find.
can me because im lost.
