Financial aid and tuition?

hi guys. go st. john's university , i'm having trouble paying tuition. entire cost go school 42 thousand dollars. applied federal aid , expected family contribution went down 11,775 dollars. dorming @ st. john's 12,000. if stop dorming , become commuter student financial aid used pay entire tuition bill since 11,775 dorming expenses. colleges allow things happen because rather commute. know can call school being weekend... if 1 has experience siituations please let me know if possible.
