Network printer?
since router lost power , when came on devices have been assigned new ip address , unless set static , follow below steps :
troubleshooting purposes, disable firewall programs running. once able print, enable firewall again. must have admin right on pc change settings listed:
1.verify there secure connection between printer router or access point.( light should on router)
2 obtain ip address of printer (example: 192.168.1.100) either printer setting or router.
3. ping see if pc can communicate machine:
a) on computer, click start ->programs> accessories>run.
b) erase in open box , type: command
c) click ok. command prompt window open.
d) type: ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ip ip address of printer , example: 192.168.1.100)
e) press enter on keyboard. computer ping, or try communicate printer when completed, receive ping statistics.
if 4 sent , rec’d 4 ok , go next step. if not didn’t rec 4 packets indicates there communication between priner , computer. contact router mfg.
4 go printer folder ,( control panel , under hardware , sound it's printers, or if in classic veiw, printers) make sure printer icon says 0 , ready , if document in queue , must cancel them next step.
5. right click on printer , go properties , click on tab ports . make sure printer still set on tcp /ip port .
6. click configure port under port tab. on 2nd line , erase ever on line ( ip address or node name of device ) , type new ip address of printer , , apply or ok ,
7. click genral tab , click print test page , should print . if not create port new tcp ip port new port , if needed , email me !
the other day had power blackout , when switch on 4 computers , network printer xp laptop can print. other 3 vista computers printer offline. how can fix this?
