Is it worth getting a head gasket repaired on a 1998 SUBARU Forester if so how much should it cost?

i'm deciding if should buy 1998 subaru forester (with 110,000 mi). seller want sell $2000. car sideswiped (driver side) , needs body work. windows still roll , door close , locks. got estimate repair $500. seller mentioned had overheating problem. parts of cooling system had been replaced including radiator. friend told me might need head gaskets replaced subarus @ mileage. worth getting head gasket repaired? car run , drive better , no more overheating problem ? thank you.
