Not sure about attending college for Photography?

warning! have lot this!

i'm senior @ large university in houston, texas area. i'm majoring in photography minor in french.

before chose major, had changed plan 4 times. instance, thought fun teach , i'm patient, once started taking specific classes it, realized wasn't wanted do. 1 day after such class, struck me go school photography--something i'm passionate , don't ever bored of.

when came choosing schools, tried find 1 had modern, hands-on, , complete program. instance, wanted class teach me digital age. wanted class show me how set own studio lights. wanted program give me opportunity try out aspects of photography (studio, sports, fashion, photojournalism). , wanted program challenge me learn more. @ university, i've gotten that!

expensive. buying paper , making prints. digital teachers see digital photos on paper. , if taking advanced courses, might need advanced equipment. schools or teachers though have lending programs complete assignments.

photojournalism great idea! -- if don't mind handing on rights photos, not receiving credit freelance photographer, or lame assignments might "cheapen" photography. instance, best photo friend works 3 newspapers @ once right now. has blast doing it, bothered she's not taken artistic photographer. recent assignment photograph people's feet on college campus. o.o have explore , bad, , decide if it's right you.

if you're interested in film, find school strong film program. if you're interested in digital, find digital program. however, many digital programs still have prerequisite film classes, , might surprised @ how fun can be! film classes can teach understand camera , controls better, rather relying on automatic digital settings time. more in-depth view @ how photography works, , it's quite fascinating. once finish (one or 2 usually) film classes, have whole selection of digital class choose from.

think lou partly right. should find program has hands-on training can out there , learn. not sit @ desk listening teacher drone white balance... need class can do. idea take business classes, said. many photo majors here @ college business minors can run own studios well. interns great way learn if can find mentor. i've tried twice, recently, , both ended being flops. 1 boring , mundane, sapped fun out of photography. other unorganized, never keep messes , "plans".

great photo program not faint of heart. if teachers teachers, critical, , harsh. you'll break 1 shot class, , teacher hate anyway. it's being challenged go further, learn more, improve yourself.

photography, think you've got potential. have great shots keep interest , have me wanting see more. have great color schemes. looks you've begun develop own personal style.
