Kids on boats- proper life vest?

our friends have invited go out on boat next weekend (on lake). we're excited little nervous having our 4 yr old daughter on boat.
i'm going shopping life vest not 100% on type should getting her.

i'm not sure if boat appropriate , should shopping else.
she's 4 , petite- 30 pounds , has limited experience in water.

advice has experience kids on boats helpful.
