A question about compulsory auto insurance?

when insured car last month, told agent want basic insurance, , thought purchased. never information policy, sent me monthly bill.

today went agent , notified them of this, , gave me coverage selections page paper, , noticed on part 4 of compulsory insurance set limit $50,000 while minimum $5000 here in massachusetts. apparently premium having $50,000 limit $503.

since car no longer operational due accident last sunday , want keep insurance 4 months until can replace car, wondering how save if lowered limit state minimum of $5,000?
