Cross Border Shopping - Returning Merchandise after I already paid Canadian tax?

went shopping on @ buffalo on black friday. bought item $120 (w/ tax). when got border ended paying gst + pst.

did convert purchase of $120 @ exchange of 1.2329 equals $147.95 cad. made me pay 13% gst+pst of canadian equivalent $19.33. since i'm not far border, i'm planning on returning buffalo return item (it's pretty impulse buy).

question is, can show them purchase receipt, return receipt plus invoice showing tax paid @ border , $19.33 paid? i'm hoping since it's not fair keep money merchandise don't have. seem fair?

anyway i'd hear if has had experience before or knows policies.
