Why won't my printer work?

it's hp deskjet 940c; i'm using windows vista.
working fine other day, , when try print test page, comes 'error' when open pending documents. printer has power it, paper, ink, cartridges installed correctly, usb port functioning , have tried other ports well. driver up-to-date , has been uninstalled & re-installed.

power-supply of computer effect computer's ability print? i've read computer comes standard pretty crummy power supply.
