What determines the exact route of an aircraft?

it's based on number of things.

flights different airports based around navigational aids, such vor (very high frequency omidirectional range), though nowadays gps. there many different classifications of airspace , terrain might impede progress of direct flight, although 30,000+ don't have worry latter.

other things consider fuel, or connecting flights. airliners may need take on more fuel before able complete next leg of flight, such long distance international flights mentioned. airlines save money when take many people can @ once , kind of "double dip," it's not uncommon have full plane , have stop passengers off flight.

had ask me though why, looked @ interactive track of flight, weren't staying on course well. answer atc or bad weather. atc vectors, or tells pilots go, basically. things setting approaches or separate aircraft in congested airspace. things planned route. atc , congested major reason southwest flies out of places dallas love instead of dfw, , houston hobby instead of bush international.

specially long distance international flights not shortest distance between source , destination route..so if assume weather conditions not play part other criterias play critical part in determining exact path aircraft takes?
