What's it really like to live in Canada? Education, government, cost of living, etc.?


american living in canada. there pro's , con's living in either country. taxes higher in canada, food higher, gas higher, going movies more expensive can think of costs more here in canada. being said, canada more environmentally progressive us, wages typically higher in canada, health care in canada, employee benefits better jobs , crime lower in canada. canada more geared outdoors , have more biking , walking trails have ever seen in us. yes, expensive heat home in winter here cheaper cool home in summer. our home doesn't have ac unit need 1 or 2 weeks per year. our gas/electric bill 300-325$ per month in winter , 60$ in summer. winter harsh in areas of canada , can last 6 months of year.
don't prefer live in 1 place on other. here in canada right because husband working here. day day life same.
can't compare school systems between canada , because our son won't start school here until next fall. not have pre-k here in canada. interested see here because former school teacher us.

i'm not looking "official" or "sanctioned" response, i'm looking answer regular folks. better live in versus canada? better live in canada versus us? what's pay heat, gasoline, food, etc.?
