since he's philosophy, him book related favorite philosopher or idea - biography or original work, not textbook of course :-) - , write in front "to <friend's name>, <something witty/inside joke/etc.>, happy birthday! <your name>".

so yeh, it's friends 20th birthday in month, , him more friend. wanna him cool yet shows care him. i'd rather him more personal dvd or cd etc.
