wow, difficult question. field? oh heck yes. you're money making chances if you're willing work hard. degree in photography good, business degree added photography talent make more money. many photographers go out of business every year because pay more attention camera "business". growing field? that's tough one. ability of every uncle joe out there buy capable digital camera , ignorance of general public real photography is, making money getting tough. if you've got talent , creativity set aside rest of them, can make lot of money. have studied , attended seminars people shoot weddings , make $20,000 or more per wedding. , know people make $400 , give customers disk of images. if passion photography , you're willing work it, career can rewarding both creatively , financially.
