Do BMWs rust as much as Hondas, Toyotas?

i'm considering purchasing 2000s (2001-2003) bmw 3 series , wanted check out few things salesman told me while looking @ cars.

being resident of wisconsin, snow , salty roads affect body of cars. lumina drive has rust in few spots, , accord had before got quite rusty. salesman told me bmw uses higher quality of steel , different paint makes vehicles less susceptible rust. true? guesstimated if honda rusts in 5 or 6 years, bmw might rust in 10.

i'm looking comment on reliability of bmws. salesman told me 3 series more reliable 5 or 7 series because it's got fewer electronics. i've read online consistent that. however, people seem think bmws aren't reliable hondas or toyotas. thoughts (please provide reasons!)?
