How do you remove the door panels on a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am GT?

took driver's door panel off pontiac van. should similar car. best info come manual, of course. go chilton's or haynes repair manual car. helpful lots of routine maintenance. these instructions general found. if don't work you, manual.

first screws or bolts on inside of door panel. around handle, inside latch, controls windows, locks, etc. underneath , inside , can find, , remove them. if have doubt put them when you're done, or if there different sizes, lengths, or styles of screws or bolts, either mark them tape located, or put them in sandwich bag note located. if don't have replacement motor already, anyway.

next, slide stiff putty knife or slender screwdriver under panel near bottom corner, , gently lift. you're trying pull panel away frame. it's held in plastic clips little round bits held vertical piece. they're nicknamed "christmas trees", because sort of these. pull straight out of frame.

work way around door, loosening christmas trees. it's ok if damage them - cheap replace @ decent hardware store. if hit spot can't pull loose, hard screw might have missed.

once have loose, maneuver door around free of lock buttons, handles, etc. have disconnect lock , window buttons. these have clips release without effort, don't try pull door away without detaching these, or you'll have repair wiring, too.

watch sticky putty in places. manufacturers put on additional way attach door, or keep buzzing when drive. if find some, can pull panel away without problems.

when off, take christmas trees off frame , door, , set them aside. replace motor, , check christmas trees damage. take damaged ones hardware or auto parts store , ask replacements. may not find exact matches, should come close. buy replacements ones need, , couple of extras. under dollar, , may quarter or so. extras handy, because may damage 1 when replacing them, or drop one.

put christmas trees door panel, , count how many have in panel. reconnect wiring, maneuver panel on door latch, etc, , pop christmas trees place. make sure of them - that's why counted them.

replace screws, latch covers, trim pieces, etc, , happy.
