Husband's surname & male genealogy???

surnames small factor in genealogy. normal genealogical research involves use of maiden name's identify parents , continue tracing back. have no idea describe "male" genealogy.
(every day) have persons start here "my last name jones, want family history".. , try explain family history not limited jones.. includes ancestors, regardless of names. there no reason @ looking jone's in world... ancestry involve father/ father's father, etc.. not rest of them.
right in (not all) cultures, wives take name of husband. tradition only, not integral finding personal family history , heritage.

as far know on world or big percentage of wives taking on husband’s surname. of course keep maiden name of them take husband’s. world seems have male population genealogy exception of royalties. why?
