What does it mean when you cry for other people?

example, guy told me mother died, plus atheist, knew knew he'd never see again, since didn't believe in heaven or anything. when thought of that, cried. time today, because sister's boyfriend depressed. he's 23 or 24, , has 3 kids. gets drunk feel better. also, last year, girl screamed out ef , crying, , of sudden felt emotional, if or something. didn't that.

i'm not sure if i'm crying selfish reasons though.

say doesn't affect @ all, cry reason thinking how other people feel? why that, other times don't care or understand how people feel?
