Major in visual arts?

wanted art teacher (for elementary school) , illustrator when grow up. , been thinking of college alot lately, , have questions on it. if u can't answer of them can u please answer atleast 1 of them? thank in advance
1. better go art college, or normal college , major in art, or liberal arts college? there difference in "level" of how stuff learn art?
2. have ever heard of kendall art school in michigan?
3.what art colleges require in admission? know want portfolios, not sure put in there, , have essays? care act sat scores, , grades on report card, or eyes shifted toward portfolio?
4. there requirement classes take in highschool art colleges, normal colleges?
5. other info on majoring in art truely appreciated.
