Having problems with printer?

lot of scanning of books , had old lexmark printer might have been cheap , didn't print, scanned well. figure wanted upgrade printer , 1 better job , @ least print.

horrible thing scan book i'm not able crop , save it. actually, can save image includes part of lid of printer. have tried many things , i'm having no luck , directions useless. out there reading know scanning , cropping , saving?

appreciated.
