Can vagueness in poetry, at some point be a good thing?

having conflict of interest poetry here. read in critiques , poetry textbooks, abstraction , vagueness tools avoided in poetry. abstraction, meaning phrases "the big fight", or "after storm", don't particularly apply anything, or @ least stand alone outside of context within poem. in other words, poem provides no solid incident or place these abstractions fall into.
leads fact poem needs specific. needs follow train of thought, in order "show" thought, , not "tell" it, needs not follow train of thought, incident. whether incident extended metaphor, or within framework of related events , ideas, needs that, incident. means poem personal on level, , whether poem offers point ponder, or other thought reader take away them left chance.

believe might hinder ability reach large audience. think @ point, specific incident can serve distraction intended message poet may trying convey.
there expectation, ignore. when reader approaches poem expectation, or preconceived notion, can foreshadowing of effect poem have on them.

can be, poem “either” abstract (a shirt fits sizes) or specific (intended experienced readers , interpreters)? , can agree both can equally effective in reaching reader on level?
