Performing at an art exhibition at college?

i've been asked play @ art exhibition @ college. woman organising event told me play whatever wanted, 'background music' nice.

don't term 'background music'. reminds me of sort of music that's played in lift. don't think play 'background music. think it's matter of taste is? current repertoire includes beethoven sonatas, debussy preludes, of copland's more dissonant works, chopin , bach i've been preparing diploma. think i'm going go there , play these pieces, think i'd pushing boundaries or being bit disrespectful if should play dissonant , people consider more 'rowdy' twentieth century works?

thoughts on this: it's art exhibition must appreciate expressionism etc art world, surely they'd appreciate musical movements. i'm having second thoughts may little rude...
