Why do some writers use poetry?

aesthetic. simple that. writer myself, tend think there little difference between genres of writing in structure, , more in label. i.e. writing call it, not is.
it's asking why photographer choose use black , white film opposed color. artist (the writer) assesses subject (what writing about?) , makes aesthetic decision how best articulate voice on matter... , write play, poem, essay, etc. it.
there lot said writers strengths are. professionals in field play strengths. writers @ haiku, @ free-verse, @ teleplay, @ novella, , when approach work tend write at. same way baseball player @ lateral-defense may put @ shortstop , baseball arm may put @ catcher. play strengths.
, love. people love poetry. emily dickenson never published poem... still kept writing them. must have loved it.
