ok. long answer: dont sav. monitor. out of meens people care , care links received here crap. if interested in getting monitor lizard there species easyer house sav. , if more fun monitor lizard keep( 1 can actualy handle!!!!) called ridge tailed monitor or "ackie". here pic of full grown adult red ackiehttp://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/... around 2 feet long , can kept in trios, pairs or single animal in 4 x 2 x 2 large rubermaid stock tub or custom built plywood/melemine enclosure(just remember make compleatly water proof!) http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/... fill tub 1 foot of sandy soil mix thats moict enough hold burrow. useing plexi glass or lexan build hinged lid keep in humidity since want there enviroment have around 75-80% humidity.(no screen tops!) throw in plywood boards spacers create raised basking spot has 135f basking temp provided lets 50 watt hologen flood or 2 wider spot light stays on 24/7 (yes , 24/7 light , heat no day/night cycle!!!!!!) check temp infer red thermometer , make sure fixture lights ceramic, cause plastic melt. add water bowl , ackies.feed them crickets every day or chopped adult mouse every other day. once every few weeks check make sure substrate still moist , holding burrows , go. compleatly honest careing sav. same, bigger cage(twice big actualy) , feeding bill. animal might hate forever . e-mail me anytime questions have on monitors

p.s. "john h" ackies nicest monitors out of whole group (way nicer sav.!!!) , said, care almost(pretty much) identical, bigger cage (8x4x4 minimum) , basking lamp.
