Has anyone tried to put in diff. power steering fluid for Lexus and Volkswagen?

no!! thousand times no!!! if put in different fluid vw recommends can cause power steering pump or rack fail! fluids in cases not intermix; 1 float on top of other or if intermix, change lubrication properties of correct fluid.

i've spent on , off 25 years in volkswagen dealership service departments, cannot begin tell how many units have been ruined intermix of wrong fluids. when advising customers, told them carry bottle of power steering fluid, transmission fluid , coolant them when traveled. these fluids different , cannot bought in part stores or mass merchandisers (walmart, kmart, target, kragen, pep boys, etc.).

give idea of how different power steering fluid is, costs late model vw's $15 $20 per pint of fluid, compare standard gm dextron iii fluid or generic power steering fluid!!!

should check power steering , coolant fluids self. in fact, vw on vehicles since 1999 has not labeled power steering fluid cap because don't want people adding wrong fluid. cap on late model vw's green , need screw driver remove cap check fluid.
