Does art has to have a social message?

no. can have social message, there no right or wrong definition of art "should" be. if substituted word "music" art, wouldn't sound funny question? people seem intuitively understand there different kinds of music different people , purposes, if has have "purpose". yet when comes visual arts, seems theoreticians trying take control, , falls outside of theory no good. don't know why. i'm visual artist , find frustrating.
