why there differences in genealogies of jesus in new testament?
matthew 1:2-16 , luke 3:23-38
christian explanations:
1. matthan , matthat brothers.
comment: yeah, right. that's why have 2 different fathers - eleazar , levi.
2. luke's genealogy of mary's , matthew's genealogy of joseph's.
comment: read verses again. says: "and jacob father of joseph, husband of mary, " in matthew , in luke says "he (jesus) son, thought, of joseph, son of heli," . jacob father of joseph or joseph son of heli? can't mary's genealogy.
3. 1 or both of genealogies fabricated.
comment: point. genealogies fabricated , bible.
4. jacob , heli same person,
comment: that's why have different fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, etc.
5. levirate marriage scenario:
estha grandmother of joseph. married mathan , him became mother of jacob.
after mathan died, married mathat , became mother of heli.
so, jacob , heli half-brothers have same mother.
heli married, died without children. widow undertook ancient custom of levirate marriage, , married brother jacob give children in heli's name. gavebirth joseph.
therefore, joseph both biological son of jacob , legal son of heli (from nathan).

quite ridiculous. first of all, don't have proof , long-shot. second, why didn't estha preserve tradition of levirate marriage? if did, mean matthan , matthat brothers , gave comment on above.
