Overheating peoblems in 1997 Pontiac Sunfire?

have 1997 pontiac sunfire , have had overheating problems. once had stop , when opened hood, coolant leaking out of cap. thought weird because cap closed tight. car fine in first 20 miles or , problem starts. had had cooling system flushed 6 months ago. wondering problem be. there anyway can figure out problem? college student , tight on budget. appreciated.
