What could be problems with buying a new boat made by a manufacturer that filed chapter 13?

first you'd have homework. means finding out parts exist on boat cannot replaced due manufacturer not existing anymore. also, need check workmanship of hull , various upholstery , such.

if fiberglass hull, ask fiberglass repair shops if , how boats manufacturer have problems. complete inspection of areas in holes drilled hull insure 100% sealed leaking silicone or sealant.

1 particular check, take finger , stick in bilge drain plug hole, if not feel sealed tubed hole or feel wood or plywood, not buy boat. transom rot out on in 10 years or less. that's $1500 $2000 repair time bomb happen.

(1 month ago) when speaking fiberglass pro know, found 1994 i/o omc boat in shop. engine , sterndrive removed. looking @ transom, there pieces of rotted plywood on shop floor , hole @ transom. culprit, lazy manufacturers didn't seal bilge drain plug hole plywood in transom. believe said has run 2 or 3 projects waiting similiar transom issues.

leaking in fiberglass hulls outside equals internal rot, , means unsafe , worthless boat.

would keep buying boat, if deal? if warranty offered boat dealership?
(manufacturer filed bankruptcy.)
