Modern Art question?
first, depends on era of modern art you're talking about. technically "birth" of modern art starts in 19th century movements impressionism, romanticism, realism, etc. things consider pretty standard , old hat. enter 20th century , world wars people recognize modern emerges. i'm going assume meant latter , address
modern art very... what's word... incestuous? no. it's inside joke (and don't mean in negative way). movements developed in response previous art movements/styles. they're lot of times direct response going on in world around them. take instance dadaism, (you know one, ol' toilet bowl art piece trick) 1 of famous anti-art art movements, , that. negative cultural response bourgeois society felt responsible start of wwi. rejected art world pushed upon them , presented exact opposite. similar goes pop art, culturally throwing off of old , traditional , embracing of opposite, young, shallow, campy, etc. (and yes i'm thinking of warhol right now).
perhaps people (or atleast @ point in time) find difficult digest modern art because may lack context or vocabulary artist had. or perhaps they're looking @ serious eye , fall short on joke (that happens think). there's think about, actually. role of irony in art world, , modern cynical humans expect it.
please keep in mind no expert. dork. end.
why think modern art difficult understand , appreciate?
