Why cant we fully recover the past(history)?

can't recover past history because evidence fragmentary, , historians have lot of extrapolating fill in gaps.

historians, naturally, have own preferences , biases, , different ones write same country , same period of history differently.

if try objective, still introduce bias choosing write in given work history (they can't write everything).

napoleon once said history agreed-upon lies. opinion, think extreme. indicates if want make history don't become great politician or great general. become historian.
