What genealogy software is better?

i've been using family tree maker several years. right have older version, , thinking upgrading 2008, have read many negative comments make me think over. have read new ftm whole new program , not continuation previous versions. liked ftm , don't know how new software is. according many, upgrade downgrade.

also, i've been thinking free software personal ancestral file lds. have never used it, know how compare other genealogy software on market. of course, if install paf buy paf companion, if uses these love hear experiences.
