Shock or Strut on '07 Pontiac G6 making noise?

im not sure if it's called shock or strut or else on new cars, i'm talking front passenger side shock on '07 pontiac g6. when hit bumps can hear air releasing out of it. sort of makes sense, beings it's absorber, 1 it, none of other 3 wheel areas have noise. curious if may going out or if normal? has done ever since bought car in '07--it used, had 3,000 miles on it, wouldn't think should going out. has 20,500 miles on it. went pontiac dealership today have listen it, busy ride around block me hear , had me make appointment on friday take car day, hear noise-which seems rediculous me....especially if normal! anyways, if knows if normal, please let me know, don't have take pontiac place. on other hand, i'd rather safe sorry beings still have warranty on it. speaking of warranty, know how long manufactures warranty lasts on g6? haha- should know, or ask them too. anyways, thoughts great! thanks
