Musical theatre: acting vs. singing?

really love musical theatre, , i've been acting , dancing entire life. singing, started taking lessons , singing more past few years. , i'm little frustrated because think acting more important in order role, lot of times, directors take singers on actors because figure can teach how act every single line. professional actors out there, wondering if actor , has succeeded mediocre singer on people can't act can sing well. or if started singing later on in life , developed great voice , caught other people have been training lives. guess need bit of pep talk because have big audition coming adelaide in guys , dolls , want well, , there's lot of cases competition people can't act, excellent singers. if give advice or share experiences, lot. much!
