Becoming a Philosophy professor?

i'm trying decide want myself in future. while serving in military have received tons of invaluable training in high-speed field, practical side of me says use training , degree helps me transition directly corporate world. advent of new g.i. bill, feel dreams being opened me , stupid not pursue them.

have love of philosophy, bettering myself through endless study, , teaching others , helping them better themselves. me translates being professor. but, yet again, practical side of me comes out , says philosophy degrees dime dozen, chances of me landing career slim, unless i'm awesome. have been told been told college education field growing, current age group occupying heads towards retirement.

please, need help!!
