Ok. lets cut it. Is Aikido a good art for self defense or not?

have beign interested in aikido after people recommended it.
problem is, heard there no striking.
not know whether biased opinion in aikido or wrong, can person practiced aikido tell me why should or leave it.

now, there striking techniques in aikido or not?
why not, if there aint?

cannot defend redirecting force, need force if in death situation.

please tell me, there other clubs:krav maga, , kung fu.
, heard there lots of joint locks well.

sorry asking many questions, want aikidoka answer me on on, or trained in years.

why should aikido? there enough striking techniques dont use because lethal?

or aren't there any?
worthwile doing it, why?
