How private is my web activity at work?

work in large financial services company. have lots of computer systems etc. don't spend time surfing on occasion. stumble accross 1 of sites on company's (presumably extensive) blocked list.

know can see sites visit, can see on site? example, person read question i'm posting? use personal email (gmail) , want know if have means of monitoring email. know information this? please list source (especially if person @ similar company)
