Does enamel paint / paint thinner damage plastic models or miniatures?

have used both on plastic models before. not use lot of paint thinner on plastic model. removing paint have used brake fluid before, , can save later use. have submersed models in day or two, brings paint right off. did forget once , leave week or , ate model, ruined it. luck hope helped.

i have enamel paints, use paint metal miniatures wargaming. if use same paint on plastic models or miniatures, damage them?
