i'm not audiophile looking expert insight, not product review.

have sony dav-hdx279w bravia surround sound system (5.1). have cox dvr & hd tv/channels. seems lot of times on cable, sub , l & r speakers work , not center/surrounds. seems when i'm playing dvds. sony support said should 1 of following cables address this. using either 1 of me?
1. digital audio input (coaxial)
2. digital audio input (optical)

last night did hook digital coax theater system dvr, sound had significant echo.

also, if has used ipod dock system, i'm curious how video display on tv. can run pandora radio though sound, thought i'd able see on tv too.
