Boat Problems revving engine?

bought bayliner jazz 1993. took out on water , wow upset. hope can me out. starts hard , seems choke bad. took me 15 minutes started. once did, took out of neutral , died. every time. go had , floor it. when did sounded choked lot. max speed went 10mph. got other side of lake , died. not turn on anymore. after being towed back, tried again , started. same problem neutral killing it. please me out here. first boat , become mess.
